About the Team
Dr. Camila C. Filgueiras

Dr. Camila C. Filgueiras did her undergraduate work in agricultural engineering at the Federal University of Lavras in Brazil, her master’s work in Agronomy in the Amazon, and her PhD in Entomology and Nematology at the Federal University of Lavras in Brazil. She is currently faculty at UNC Asheville and has worked as faculty at Cornell University. Her research focuses on developing applied agricultural solutions using biological control. She has counted and identified a LOT of soil microarthropods and many many more nematodes.
Dr. Denis S. Willett

Dr. Denis S. Willett did his undergraduate work at Stanford University in Earth Systems and his master’s work at Stanford University primarily at the d.School. His PhD was in Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida where he focused on applications of machine learning to real-time sensor data and in-field optimization. He has worked as a Data Scientist at Goodyear, Inc and was faculty at Cornell University where he developed a completely automated remote controllable high-throughput metabolomics and volatilomics facility. He currently works for North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies where he leads Earth System Data Science in the Cloud training program at NCSU and engineers the infrastructure that maintains 37+PB of NOAA data on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. He has counted many many nematodes and other small organisms.
